PG&E CEO Peter Darbee Resigns
April 2011
PG&E announced in April that Chief Executive Officer Peter Darbee would retire at the month’s end. Darbee leaves the utility on the heels of the San Bruno pipeline explosion that killed eight people, the controversial rollout of SmartMeter technology throughout the state and the spending of $46 million on an unsuccessful ballot initiative to hinder local governments from setting up municipal utilities. Lee Cox, the utility’s lead director, will fill the role on an interim basis. Cox will also take over for Darbee as chairman of the board and president. |
